Erma Beatrice Lane of Flint, and Hamlin Lake Ludington Michigan age 97, died Saturday Oct. 12, 2019 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday October 17, 2019 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating: burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon Thursday until time of services.

Erma was born in Flint Michigan on September 9, 1922 the daughter of the late Alfred & Beatrice (Bowden) Braam and has resided in the  Flint area most of her life, spending her summers at Hamlin Lake in Ludington Michigan. Erma grew up on the Eastside of Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1940. She loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid sports fan especially MSU Basketball, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Tigers. Over the years she was an active member of the Fisher Body Bowling League, St. Luke Bowling League, African Violet Club, Flint Park Roller Skating Club, and life member of Order of Eastern Stars #138. Her love of youth was visible as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader and Merrill School PTA Secretary. Her work ethics started at an early age, having been employed by the Ben Franklin Store and Fisher Body Payroll Dept. She later was employed by the Flint Board of Education spending over thirty years in the Special Education Programs.

Surviving are children; Karen (Dallas) Evans and Matthew (Rita) Lane, and daughter–in-law Mary Lane. She also leaves her grandchildren: Adriyel (Gina) Lane, Chanda (Mateen) Cleeves, Jessica Lane, Jesko (Katelun) Lane, Jason (Lesha) Evans, and Gregory Evans. Her loving great grandchildren: Jalen, Jaxon, Kassidy, Anna, Cody, Kylee, Jacoby, Dallas, MJ, and Brody. Also surviving is sister Lorraine (William) Wiltz, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends; Linda Powell, and Ken Pekela. She is preceded in death by son Michael Lane.
