IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eleanor Elizabeth
Critchlaw
May 23, 1928 – February 6, 2026
Eleanor Elizabeth Critchlaw, age 97, of Davison, Michigan, formerly of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Americana Senior Living. In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Eleanor was born on May 23, 1928, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Arthur and Agnes (Harjes) Glaeser. She spent much of her early life in New Jersey before relocating to Florida in 1971, where she built a life filled with work, creativity, and laughter. In 2024, Eleanor moved to Davison to be closer to her daughter, cherishing the gift of family during her later years.
Eleanor was united in marriage to Harold Critchlaw on October 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2024, after many years of love and partnership.
Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Eleanor had a remarkable ability to make people laugh. Her laughter filled rooms, eased hearts, and brought people together - something friends and family will forever remember and miss.
Eleanor was deeply creative and loved working with her hands. She found great joy in painting, crafting, and building furniture, pouring her heart into every piece she made. Her artwork was more than a hobby, it was an extension of who she was. Each painting and handmade creation she leaves behind is a tangible piece of her love, creativity, and spirit, now treasured by those who knew her.
Eleanor dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of New Port Richey before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Lang; her beloved grandchildren, William Lang Jr., Bryan (Jillian) Lang, Heidi (Mackenzie) Thrower, and Halicia Lang; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces and many nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Critchlaw; her son, Harold Critchlaw III; her son-in-law, William Lang Sr.; her brother, Arthur Glaeser; and her sister, Helen Roensch.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Americana Seniors of Davison and Absolute Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and love shown to Eleanor and her family during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. In honoring Eleanor’s generous spirit, the family notes that she especially loved supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the ASPCA, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
