Edward John Vavra of Flint, age 88, died Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday November 16, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 5191 Richfield Rd. Flint. Fr. Robert C. Bacik, Celebrant. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Edward will lie in state from 10:00 am Monday until time of services at the church. Those desiring may make contributions in Ed's memory to the Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice. Edward was born in Flint Michigan on November 6, 1927 the son of the late; John & Theresa (Simcik) Vavra, and has resided in the Flint area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Patricia Ethier on October 26, 1954. Answering the call of his country Ed served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus Council #4090, and Holy Rosary 50 & Over Club. Edward was employed by General Motors Buick Division until his retirement in 1988. He leaves his wife of sixty-one years Patricia, Children: Ken (Diana) Vavra, Karen (fiancé Bob Spegar) Pacheco, Kim Morgan, and Keith (Sherri) Vavra. He also leaves grandchildren; Kellie, Megan, Kari, Marieau, Kristen, Jonathan, Drew, Melodie, Joshua, Chelsea, and six great grandchildren.
