Edna B. Cates of Davison, age 93, died Tuesday October 11, 2016 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Friday October 14, 2016, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr. Carl Simon, Celebrant. Private Rite of Committal will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo Ohio. Edna will lie in state at the church from 11:00 am Friday until time of services. Edna was born in Toledo Ohio on February 7, 1923 the daughter of the late: Michael & Anna (Dwogacki) Allore, and has resided in the Davison area since 1991. She was joined in marriage to Russell Cates on July 4, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2011. She is a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. Surviving is daughter Christine Marie Cates & husband Jamal Esshaki, son Robert Michael Cates and Victoria. Her loving grandchildren: Kim Calhoun & husband Wayne, Darrell Cates & wife Tiffany, and also great grandchildren; Shellby and Haley. She also leaves her niece Linda Gilley & husband Ron, nephew Larry Allore & wife Dianna, and her special friends Genny, Teresa, Andi, Kim and Jodi. She is preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Cates, brother & sister-in-law Pete & Martha Allore, and lifelong friend of fifty years Anna Rinkowski.
