Dorothea Elizabeth Lane of Genesee Township formerly of Houghton Lake, age 93, died Wednesday December 2, 2020 at her residence. Private burial on the family plot in New Haven Township Cemetery, Gratiot County has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Dorothea was born on the family farm in New Haven Township on January 15, 1927 the daughter of the late Jerry & Gladys (Chapman) Lepley and had resided in the area for many years and later in her life she resided in Houghton Lake for several years. She was joined in marriage to Franklin W. Lane on February 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2004. Dorothea and her husband Franklin accepted the Lord Jesus as their Savior in 1959, which changed their lives forever. From that point forward Dorothea served in different capacities in the various churches she belonged to, all for the honor and glory to God and for the good of others. In her later years she was a member of Houghton Lake Baptist Church and presently a member of Community Baptist Church in Davison. She truly loved the Lord, her family, and people in general. She was noted for her feisty ad vibrant personality. Dorothea loved to read, especially the Zane Grey novels, and most importantly her Bible. She liked to watch old time TV, especially classic mystery and western movies and shows. In recent years she enjoyed coloring as a hobby. She also enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed  flower gardening.

She leaves to cherish her memory son, Pastor Dana Lane and wife Denise, her grandson Micah Lane, granddaughter Heather and husband Pastor David Locke. She also leaves her loving great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Evelyn, Emelia, Jonathan, and Nathaniel. She also leaves sister-in-law Fairy Lepley and a host of extended family and friends.
