Obituary

David Reid McTaggart of Flushing and Mt. Morris age 92 went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 26, 2010 at Genesys Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 30, 2010 at the Mt. Morris First Baptist Church, 800 Louisa Mt. Morris. Rev. Mark Conn officiating, followed by burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 5-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. McTaggart will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Wednesday until time of services. David was born in flint Michigan May 31, 1918 the son of the late: James McTaggart and Mary Gibson Blair, and has resided in the Flushing and Mt. Morris area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Mary Frances Mittan November 21, 1943 and she preceded him in death December 27, 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Mt. Morris, a life member of Flushing Lodge 223 F&AM and had enjoyed his first twenty years of retirement in Florida. David was a inducted in the Greater Flint Hall of Fame, was a member of the Eastside Merchant State Champion Baseball Team, He also enjoyed bowling and basketball, and was a avid golfer until 2000. He was employed by General Motors Buick division for forty-two years retiring in 1977. He is survived by daughter: Linda & husband Craig Ware of Otisville, and son: Donald & wife Peggy McTaggart of Arkansas. Grandchildren: Kelly, Ronald, James, Aaron, Jennifer, Tim, and Robin. Great Grandchildren; Courtney, Anja, Zach, Holly, Megan, Nicholas, Natalee, Evelyn, Austin, and Brynn. Brother Bob & wife Marian McTaggart, and several other family members. Special golf buddies: Bruce, Keith and Mel. He is preceded in death by two brothers, James Blair, and Donald. David will be dearly missed and was loved by many. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Genesys Convalescent Center, and especially Allison smith, Nicole Johnson, and many others of his "sweeties" that took good care of him for the last nine years.
