Obituary

Daniel R. Priest of Otisville, age 72, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday January 9, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, with Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Daniel's memory to Hurley Children Foundation or McLaren Hospice. Dan was born in Flint Michigan on February 26, 1942 and has resided in the Otisville area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Kathryn Price on April 11, 1964. Answering the call of his country Dan proudly served in the National Guard. Daniel was a hard-working and talented brick-layer for many years, and had owned his own company for over 25 years. He enjoyed playing the piano and played in a band from a young age. He took delight in playing cards and was an avid sports fan. He especially liked the Detroit Tigers. Dan had a heart of gold and helped many others throughout the years. He had a great, witty sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. Dan was a devoted husband to Kathy. He was a dedicated father and grandfather. Dan was a friend to all. He was cherished and loved by his family very much. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy; children, Jim (Cheri) Priest, Kristin (Mike) Colpetzer; grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole, Emily, Scott, Marisa, and Ian. Also his brother Bill (Pat) Priest, sister, Barb (Vern) Buckley, sister-in-law Dianne (Jim) Humphrey; and several nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Harold, mother Nora, and stepfather, Gordon Cornell; his in-laws, Wesley and Doris Price and his sister-in-law, Marcia (Price) Jones. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at the Hospital, and Jason and McLaren Hospice for their care, and compassion during this time.
