Cheryl Lyn
Boyce
October 12, 1957 – May 12, 2026
Cheryl L Boyce
10-12-1957 —May 12, 2026 Of Davison, MI, age 68, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Serene Meadows of Grand Blanc, MI. Cheryl was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 12, 1957, the daughter of Richard (Pat) and Betty (Larson) Pittenger. Cheryl grew up in Otisville, MI, and graduated from Lakeville High School in 1975. She was good at just about everything and got along with pretty much everyone. She played music, was a majorette and cheerleader, ran track, played softball, and started on the State Champion Girls basketball team, and was named High School All-American in basketball on March 22, 1975. She was also incredibly smart. After her kids got older and she started a new career, she began taking college courses to pursue a degree. After more than a decade of dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence in her work, she accomplished her goal. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude in 2011. It is one of her proudest moments, and her family was in awe of her. She has two children, Tonya Provost and Daniel Provost, from her first marriage to Steven Provost. She is a Grandmother to their daughters, Ava Hawkins and Lorelai Provost. Cheryl married her long-time love, Frank Boyce, in 2012. For 38 years, they had many beloved dogs and cats and were always the neighborhood favorites of squirrels, stray cats, possums, deer, and birds. They fed them with love and delight for years. The youngest and only daughter of Pat and Betty, she was a gifted people person, naturally athletic, charismatic, and had a giant, loving, and forgiving heart. She had a smile and a hug that made you feel like you were valued and seen. Her ferocity as a mama bear was unmatched. She also had a razor-sharp wit and could roast you with an accuracy that let you know she knows you and she loves you. She was a goofball and loved to clown around with her kids. She could take a ribbing like a champ and had a knack for physical comedy that is legendary. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Cheryl was a gifted listener and probably has more friends and fans than she ever knew. She genuinely cared about and for people when she was with them. She loved to take drives on the weekend with her husband Frank, in their Firebird. They would go all over Michigan to car shows, concerts, festivals, and restaurants, making memories whenever she had time off. Her taste in music was broad, and she loved to sing loudly and dance when her jams came on. She was an avid homemaker and gardener. She spent long hours every week tending to her flowers, and she loved to get flowers from friends’ gardens and transplant them to her own. She was equally dedicated to her own growth and faced every challenge like a warrior with the heart of a lion. She brought positivity and sunshine wherever she went. She had a way of making everyone want to be her best friend. She faced death three times in her life, and she faced her final round fighting, smiling, and making new friends on her way to eternity. If anyone deserves wings, it’s her. She knew Jesus and was God’s daughter, and she lived a good, noble life and left the world better than she found it. You can see her garden of love in her people and all those she met along the way. A piece of her light shines in each one of them. That is divine. She never met a stranger, and we are better for it. Surviving Cheryl are her husband and her children: Frank E.Boyce, Daughter, Tonya L. Provost, Granddaughter Ava Grace Hawkins, son in law-Michael Hawkins, Son Daniel P. Provost, partner Jessica Cavanaugh, and daughter Lorelai Lilly Provost, Brothers Gary(Karin) Pittenger, Neil (Kathy) Pittenger; nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty Pittenger; in-laws, Edwin and Sadako Boyce; brother-in-law, Roger Boyce; and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank Serene Meadows Memory Care in Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Absolute Hospice. The staff was kind, and they made Mom happy many days and gave her loving care, especially at the end. We felt very held; the compassion and reverence for our mother were evident. Instead of flowers, please donate to an animal rescue in Cheryl’s Memory that you believe is making a difference locally and gives animals another chance at a loving home. A memorial is being planned for mid-June. Cheryl’s wishes were to be cremated. The family can be contacted at cherylboycememorial@gmail.com if you would like to receive details. Please share with us via this email any photos and memories you have of her that we could include in the memorial.
