Obituary

CARL "TEX" RICKARD I, of Las Vegas, Nevada, age 84, formerly of Davison, Michigan embarked on his last and longest adventure on Monday, December 27, 2022. He left us all peacefully, stating frequently to his family that, he had a good life, was loved by two beautiful women, who were too good for him (his words), raised four great kids, ran his own business, retired early, and traveled the world. He truly lived up to "his" theme-song, MY WAY.

God broke the mold after Tex was born to the late Albert & Clara (Ackerman) Rickard on August 30, 1938, in Flint, Michigan. As the only boy and middle child, he spent his childhood (and adulthood) teasing his two sisters Berta (the late, John) Tiffany and the late Bonnie Rickard, to him teasing was love.  And he loved them a lot.

He graduated from Flint Tech High School where he excelled at Baseball, Football and Basketball. He loved sports all of his life and was an avid fan of the UNLV Rebels Basketball, Las Vegas Raiders and Las Vegas Golden Knights as well as the Detroit Tigers.

He met the love of his life on Halloween night.  He saw a beautiful girl passing out treats on her front porch and his first words to her were "Trick or Treat". He married Sandra Anne Becker, on August 2, 1958 in Flint Michigan. Together they had 4 children, Rita (Jim) Angle, Kimberly (the late Bob) Amble, Carl Tex (Robi) Rickard Jr. and Randy Rex (Nildee) Rickard.  11 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. He was the owner, along with Sandy, of Silent Alarms, a burglar alarm company in Flint Michigan. Together they enjoyed travel, being grandparents and going to Las Vegas, where they eventually retired in 1984. Sandy preceded him in death in 1988.

Life was good to Carl Tex Rickard I, once again, when he met Elsie MacGregor in 1992. He and this kind and lovely lady spent the next 30 years together, traveling the world, competing in Poker & Black Jack tournaments and seeing all the great shows that Las Vegas had to offer.  Elsie was a loved by the whole family and was greatly mourned when she passed away in May of 2022.

He will be missed by his children and grandchildren, as well as his sister Berta, sister-in-law Rita (David) Mc Karnen, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2022 at Hansen Funeral Home in Downtown Davison at 1:00pm with burial after at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from 11:00am until time of service
