Byron Herschel Spooner of Davison Township, age 78, died Wednesday August 31, 2016 at his daughter's residence. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday September 4, 2016 at Hansen Funeral Home, Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm Sunday until time of services. Byron was born in Flint Michigan on December 6, 1937 the son of the late; Herschel & Falice (Thompson) Spooner and has resided in the area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Caroline Maretzy on July 24, 1967 in Flint and she preceded him in death on November 13, 1992. Byron attended Davison Assembly of God. He was employed by his cousin Jeff Spooner of Mid-Michigan Auto Parts, and had also worked for various other family businesses in and around the Flint area. Surviving are daughters Paula (Jeff) Coleman of Texas, Carol Spooner of Flint, and Kathleen Spooner of Davison. Step children:John (Doreen) Nostrand of Florida, Celesta (John) Wright of Essexville, goddaughter Susan Talmadge. He also leaves his eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his brothers; Fred (Sharlene) Spooner, of Grand Blanc, William (Mary Jo)Spooner of South Carolina, and cousin Michael Spooner of Owosso.
