Burton Lynn Goodwin of Waterford, formerly of Holly, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Lourdes Nursing Home. He was 93 years old. Burton was born in Lapeer, Michigan on March 15, 1917, the son of the late Frank and Ada (Cole) Goodwin. Burton spent his early years in Holly, graduating from Holly High School, and the last 40 years living in the Waterford area. He was joined in marriage to Mary Louise Sternburg on October 5, 1940. Answering the call of his country, Burton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Burton was a sales and distribution representative for Tiara Glass. He is survived by grandchildren: Steven (Kristy) Goodwin, Robert (Susan) Hider, Susan (Glenn) Pollock, Dan (Nichole) Hider and Leigh (Don) Gauthier; great-grandchildren: Meg, Kayla, Olivia, Claire, Madilyn and Jalen; daughter-in-law Patricia Goodwin, son-in-law Al Hider, extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise and children Jerry Goodwin and Lynda Hider. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at the First Church of the Brethren, located at 5064 Hatchery Rd., Waterford on Thursday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lourdes Nursing Home.
