Aretha Joyce Stewart of Burton, age 78, passed away Monday April 23, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. A funeral service will be at 11:00am Friday April 27, 2012 at the South Baptist Church G-4091 Van Slyke Rd. Flint; MI. Rev. Ted Stewart, Rev. Larry Burk, and Rev. Scott Snyder officiating, Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors Thursday April 26, 2012 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Mrs. Stewart will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00am until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions in Aretha's memory to Genesys Hospice. Aretha was born in Flint Michigan January 16, 1934 the daughter of the late; William and Laura (Meyers) Rose and has resided in the Burton area since 1967. She was joined in marriage to James Stewart on September 4, 1954. Aretha was a member of South Baptist Church and had been employed by General Motors AC Spark Plug Division. She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Jim, children; James Stewart and fiancée Pamela Whitlock, Rev. Ted Stewart and wife Susan, and John Stewart and wife Janelle. Grandchildren: Jason Miller, Jennifer Stewart, Hannah Stewart, and Taylor Stewart. Sister: Ruth Rose, special niece Donna (Ralph) Weidenhammer and family, a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by five brothers, and one sister.
