June 2, 1941 – September 3, 2019
Allan Joseph Schroeder of Davison, age 78, died Tuesday September 3, 2019 at Ascension-Genesys Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Monday September 9, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Private burial will be held at Dodge Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive visitors from 4 -7 pm Saturday at the funeral home, and from 4 – 8 pm Sunday at St. John Catholic Church with a parish rosary at 7:00 pm Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions in Al's memory to Pheasant's Forever or Davison Community Memorial Tree Project.
Al was born in Flint Michigan on June 2, 1941 the son of the late Harry H. & Nellie M. (Whyte) Schroeder and has resided in the Davison area the last forty years. He was joined in marriage to Susan (Marrah) Merrow on September 13, 1980 at the Chapel in Crossroad Village. Al enjoyed traveling to many areas of the world especially cooler places like Alaska, and spending time at his cabin in the UP of Michigan, where he could hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors. He had a true love of hockey a sport that allowed him to coach at Davison for seventeen years and also in the Greater Flint Hockey Association, and always enjoyed a good game of pond hockey.
Al's career started as an Insurance Agent for Farm Bureau, later became owner of the Voight-Schroeder Agency until 1981, he then continued with Piper-McCredie Insurance until his retirement in 2011.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife Sue, children; Celeste & Carl Zipper, Devin & Carrie Schroeder, Mark & Chris Schroeder, and Eric & Andrea Schroeder. He also leaves his step-children; Brian & Victoria Merrow, Curt Merrow, Eric & Alisa Merrow, his loving eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of extended family. He is preceded in death by sisters and brother-in-laws; Joanne & Jim Highfill, and Doris & Frank Strnad. Please share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
