Alice Caroline "Jakie" Byers of Grand Blanc, age 95, died Tuesday March 17, 2015 at Abbey Park. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 20, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ 6494 S. Belsay Rd. Grand Blanc. Pastor Roger Good officiating. Private burial at Perry-McFarlen Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm Friday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Jakie's memory to the Church Memorial Fund. Alice was born and raised in the state of Oregon. She attended and was a graduate of Oregon State University. She then went on to Yale Divinity School receiving her Master's Degree and also met her husband John Byers and they were wed on July 16, 1947 in Corvallis Oregon. She accompanied her husband Rev. John Byers to various parishes in Andover & Sylvania Ohio finally settling in Grand Blanc in 1972. She is a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory husband of over sixty-seven years Rev. John "Jack" Byers, sons, John M. Jr. and wife Julie Byers, and Chris M. and wife Lynn Byers. She also leaves her grandchildren Tyson and wife Kristie, Kasey, Alicia, Peter, and great grandchildren Adysen, Trestyn. She is preceded in death by brother Robert c. Jacobson.
